Rhayne Vermette
LETTERS
Exhibition Run: January 27- April 6, 2024
Artist Talk: January 27, 2024. 2-5PM
Ociciwan Contemporary Art Centre 10124 96 St Edmonton, AB
Our inaugural film exhibition, Letters, will feature three short films from Métis filmmaker Rhayne Vermette. These short experimental films are responsive letters that explore movement through land and body. The layered textures evoke ritualistic movements forming repetitions and motifs that call for quiet observation. Drawing forward investigations of belonging and place, centering in ontologies of land and cultural knowledge systems. Vermette’s work extends an invitation to the living to quietly listen, reflect and co-exist with the spirits. Even if it is beyond our understanding.
