Missing Artwork
On June 10, 2020 Ociciwan Contemporary Art Collective reported a theft, where someone had entered Ociciwan Contemporary Art Center and stole valuable items. Amongst the items was Lana Whiskeyjack's original artwork Three Generations of nitêh (my heart) connections. In addition to the stolen artwork, new media equipment was taken.
We were preparing the installation of our inaugural exhibition, “amiskwacîwâskahikan”, before deciding to postpone the exhibition and our opening due to COVID-19. Activity was still occuring in our building, as the renovation was near completion.
Collectively, we are heartbroken that the artwork has been stolen and are asking the public and our communities both near and far, for help in locating Three Generations of nitêh (my heart) connections by Lana Whiskeyjack. Please see the detailed description of the artwork, and an image below.
Ociciwan Contemporary Art Collective has filed a police report and there is an ongoing investigation on the theft of the artwork and the equipment.
