Ociciwan Contemporary Art Centre is a new Indigenous run exhibition and community space in ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒋᐩ ᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton, Alberta.) Ociciwan Collective has come together to provide perks for our supporters, which will commemorate the opening of Ociciwan Contemporary Art Centre while contributing funds to our exhibitions, creative projects and art centre operations. Visit the fundraiser page to learn more about these perks!
We are committed to keeping programming at the Centre completely cost-free and accessible to visitors. We are able to host art exhibitions within two designated gallery spaces of the building. Our second floor includes space for community gatherings, and a kitchen. Every entrance of the building is barrier free and all floors can be accessed via an elevator lift. Each floor contains accessible, non-gendered, single-stall washrooms.
While we feel so grateful to have an amazing building to call home, the art space does mean that Ociciwan Collective has grown; some of the implications of this incredible space requires dedicated additional staff support and added maintenance costs, associated with running an art space.
Our goal is $25,000 CAD. These funds will go towards Ociciwan Centre’s daily operational costs, such as utilities and maintenance that are crucial in keeping the space operating and available to the public. In addition to operating costs, this support will contribute to our ongoing programming, such as exhibitions, creative projects, artist talks, community workshops and engagements. If you are unable to donate at this time, please consider supporting us in another way - and know we appreciate any way in which you are able to contribute.
