Glenn Gear is an Indigequeer filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist of mixed Inuit (Nunatsiavut) and settler heritage. He is originally from Corner Brook, Newfoundland and lives in Montréal, Québec. Through experimental animation and moving image, his work explores personal, cultural, and unspoken connections to the land and its people and animals. His practice is grounded in a research creation methodology shaped by Inuit and Indigenous ways of knowing—combining traditional material practice such as beading and sealskin craft with animation, photo collage, and painting. His work has shown in exhibitions across Canada and his films have screened in festivals around the world, including ImagineNATIVE, Canada; Skabmagovat, Finland; and Maoriland, New Zealand. He continues to share his passion for independent, low-budget animation through mentoring opportunities with Indigenous youth, Elders, and first-time filmmakers.
